Exploring Easy-Open Options For Shrink Film

The element of continual interest for many consumers of the modern age is easy-open packaging. You may have heard about wrap rage and how it destroys consumer satisfaction. The type of packaging resulting in wrap rage is exactly the opposite of easy-open packaging.

Wrap rage refers to negative emotions that develop a sense of frustration towards a product package. This phenomenon has become more common in this age of consumerism.

Wrap rage remains an issue with shrink-wrapped products as well. That is why many companies wonder if there is are easy-open solutions for shrink film. The short answer to this question is yes. In this article, we will discuss some shrink film options for easy-open applications.

Shrinktape

This easy-open shrink packaging application remains an ideal alternative to traditional shrink wrap film. The best thing about this film is its ease of removal. The application of this film requires the use of an applicator custom retrofitted to the new or existing shrink film. This applicator creates a tab for the opening point within the shrink film.

Consumers need to pull the tab to open the packaging. It results in a fine tear along the path of the tab. The pulling of this tab allows for easy removal of the items inside the package. This option is considered ideal for packaging medical equipment and pharmaceutical products.

The application unit of the shrink tape is made using Seal Strip. It applies shrink tape to the shrink film. This process results in the creation of a tab on the film for easy-open applications.

Peelwrap

Another easy-open option that you can use with shrink film and non-shrink film is Peelwrap. This option allows for the removal of a majority of shrink film from your packaging with a single pull. This pressure-sensitive tape features a non-adhesive linear edge. An area featured in this tape adheres to the shrink film. You can pull this area to unwrap the product packaging.

The application of peel-wrap requires the use of an applicator custom retrofitted to the new or existing shrink wrapper. The application unit attaches to the wrapper, and the applicator perforates the film. It then applies peel-wrap material to the shrink film.

All consumer has to do is to hold the non-adhesive side of the wrap and pull it down. It will result in the material opening the perforated part of the film, allowing for the convenient removal of the material.

The difference between Peelwrap and Shrinktape

Practically, both these options are identical. The only difference is between the easy-peel aspects of both options. The easy-peel element for shrink tape creates a tab, while the one for peel-wrap makes the non-adhesive size prominent for easy pulling of the wrap. The application and use of both these options are pretty much the same.

More easy-open options are becoming popular in the packaging industry. Since the shrink-wrap industry continues to grow with every passing day, manufacturers are developing more options to make shrink-wrap application and unwrapping more convenient.

If you are interested in using an easy-open option for your shrink-wrap application, make sure to discuss your requirements with a packaging consultant.
